Why we love Newport

Surrounded by landscapes offering other-worldly beauty, like the Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons, Newport is a steppingstone to nature’s wonders. To get to know the city through the lens of past locals, you could start in the centre at the Newport Museum and Art Gallery. Where you can unpick collections on social history, natural history, art and more. Hear the amazing story of the Newport Medieval Ship at the Ship Centre – found in 2002 on the banks of the River Usk. Beyond the centre, a 10-minute drive from here, explore green spaces and take in the story of the Morgan family at Tredegar House. A 17th-century mansion, set over 90 acres of peaceful parkland and gardens. Other top attractions ideal for days out in Newport include Newport Wetlands National Nature Reserve, Caerleon, and the Fourteen Locks Canal Centre.
